King Jared is a major character in Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders. He is voiced by the late Bob Kaliban in English, and dubbed by Manfred Reddemann and Marco Kröger in German (as König Jared) and by Emmanuel Jacomy in French (as Roy Jared).
Jared is the benevolent ruler of the Kingdom of Avalon, respected by the people and helping his beloved wife Queen Anya and the wizard Merlin to rule keep the land in harmony with the power of goodness. He used to be a leading member of the Wolf Pack, paired and bonded with his personal magic animal, a riding wolf named Goliath. He is loving father to Princess Gwenevere even he has a hard time keeping up with his daughter.

The powerfully-built king presents a stern appearance, but his frequent smile uncovers his easygoing true nature. Jared is strong, handsome, and extremely responsible. As the partner of the ruler of Avalon, Queen Anya, he is the Commander-in-Chief of New Camelot and the Crystal Palace's resources including the Wolf Pack. He has tremendous charisma and believes in the destiny of the Crystal Palace to spread goodness across the land.
Jared is very heroic and quick to defend the rights of the weak. Nevertheless, he is much less prominent than his wife during the Jewel Riders' great quest to break the terrible powers of Anya's own evil sister Lady Kale and later Morgana. He also actually connects better with Fallon, the tomboy member of the Jewel Riders, than to his own daughter Princess Gwenevere who is more like her mother Anya.
King Jared's friend and companion, Goliath, is an awesome brown great wolf commanding instant respect from the Pack. Goliath has a spoken role in "Fashion Fever" when he and Drake's Thunder find and chase after Kale's dweasels in the Crystal Palace grounds.

Development[]
King Jared's color palette (the Pack-style green and blue) had been originally very different. While the show's art director Greg Autore did not design the king's general look, it was him who changed his hair color (from the original solid black) and clothing colors to look less like the evil witch Lady Kale ("save it for the bad guy"). He especially insisted to the director Robert Mandell for Jared's originally Kale-like red cape to be green to showcase the king's status as "the ultimate leader of the Pack."[1] Jared was voiced by Marco Kröger in German.
Goliath was planned to be a black wolf at one point during the show's pre-production and his outfit color too changed (from dark blue to green). Jared and Anya were also supposed to have a younger daughter named Tara.
Legacy[]
King Jared's character later inspired that of Mayor Davies, Kara's father in Avalon: Web of Magic.
